CEVALLOS VILLEGAS, Dayse María; MONTESDEOCA RODRIGUEZ, Ernesto Alfredo y CEVALLOS CONDE, Rubén Darío. Strategic relationship for Ecuador’s development: multi-party trade agreement with the European Union. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2018, vol.10, n.3, pp. 165-169. Epub 02-Jun-2018. ISSN 2218-3620.
Currently, the relations between Ecuador and the European Union (EU) have been intensifying in a multilateral integration that focuses mainly on: political, commercial, humanitarian and development cooperation relations. The commercial flow between both parties has taken a considerable increase in the years 2016-2017 with the signing of the Multi-part Trade Agreement that replaced the previous GSP + system of tariff preferences. This Trade Agreement constitutes a historic milestone in the bilateral relations between these partners and grants important tariff concessions to agriculture and liberalizes 100% industrial and fishery products for Ecuador. This work analyzes the importance of this Trade Agreement and indicators that reaffirm how the European bloc has become the main market for exports of non-oil products from Ecuador.
