The legends in the popular imaginary constitute elements of the history of the different localities. Cienfuegos has a rich tradition in this and among its legend “The blue lady”, feed its culture and tradition. The potentials of its usein the educational and social development are proposed as didactic option in a group of students of Cienfuegos University. From an educational project of the group of students of the first year, of the Education career, Spanish-Literature specialty; it was conceived a didactic proposal with the objective of developing skills to fulfill the communicative competence in the students: linguistic competence, socio-linguistic, discursive and strategic by means of the adequate practice of the process of comprehension, analysis and construction of written texts related to Cienfuegos culture, using the cognitive, communicative and sociocultural approach and other didactic strategies implemented by the year teachers.
