This article is derived from the research carried out by the Study Group for School Sports Initiation, belonging to the Faculty of Physical Culture, of the University of Sancti Spíritus "José Martí". Its objective is to analyze a system of categories and terms that contribute to the precision of normative conceptions of the initial formation of the Graduate of Physical Culture with respect to sports initiation. To obtain information, the following methods are applied: bibliographic consultation, study of documents, survey, interview, methodological triangulation and consultation with a specialist. The contribution focuses on two fundamental issues: the analysis of certain non-specificities about terms and concepts that are presented in the initial formation of the Graduate of Physical Culture to face their performance in one of the spheres of their professional performance: sports initiation, at identify this with sports training; and the concrete proposal of terms and concepts, more contextualized and renewed, in light of the current sports initiation, as a teaching-learning process. These results are currently included in the curriculum of the Physical Culture student and in the Master's Degree in School Sports Initiation coordinated by the Study Group.
