RODRIGUEZ ARIAS, Abelardo Daniel y ROSABAL PONCE, Liz Belkis. Essential aspects to achieve the efficient use of national fuel, in Cuban thermoelectric plants. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2023, vol.15, n.4, pp. 65-75. Epub 10-Ago-2023. ISSN 2218-3620.
In Cuban thermoelectric plants, improved national crude oil is used as fuel, which is advantageous because it provides economic and energy independence. However, the high content of sulfur, asphaltenes and other constituents raise maintenance costs and limit the availability of these facilities. The occurrence of breakdowns in thermoelectric boilers is due to the formation of deposits, slag and corrosive compounds, which affect heat transfer, cause tube failures and blockage of the gas passage areas, which limits the availability of the units. The article details important aspects of the combustion process, determinants to ensure that the application of additives can reduce the negative impact of corrosion and unwanted effects caused by the elements that constitute the impurities that accompany the national fuel. The burner maintenance technology developed by the authors, exposed in the work, represents a valuable contribution, to achieve the necessary correspondence between the spatial distribution of the fuel in the flame section (aerosol) and the aerodynamic scheme of the burner, which ensures an efficient combustion process, with minimal excess air.
