RODRIGUEZ TUDELA, Aniuska  y  CARDENAS GIRAUDY, Aida. Behavior of migraine headache: community projection interconsultation. Rev Cubana Pediatr [online]. 2008, vol.80, n.2, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3119.

INTRODUCTION. The treatment of the migraine patient is controversial and difficult, in addition to the fact that migraine is the most frequent chief complaint in primary health care and in the emergency areas. The objective of this study was to evaluate the behaviour of migraine in children and adolescents that abused analgesics before the diagnosis. The pattern of presentation of migraine changed and it became a daily headache. METHODS. A clinical epidemiological study was conducted among 80 children and adolescents that were seen at the Neuropediatrics Department of "Leonor Pérez" Hospital as part of the algorithm for headache consultation originated at "William Soler" Pediatric Hospital and generalized in Boyeros municipality. RESULTS. The female prevailed (67.5 %), as well as the ages 9-14 (68.7 %). The most significant family antecedent by maternal route was migraine (42.5 %) and the chief complaint was the existence of daily migraine crises produced by the excessive ingestion of analgesic (dipyrone), which became the main triggering factor of the crises. CONCLUSIONS. The fact that most of the patients had migraine mothers could show the possible genetic character of the affection. The excessive ingestion of analgesics, such as dipyrone proved to be the main triggering factor of the crisis.
