The training of art educators is an unavoidable need for the Ministry of Education, given the ever-increasing demands of influencing the integral formation of students at different educational levels. Also the process of improvement that is being carried out in the country demands educators with a high technical-methodological preparation to face the challenges of the contemporary classroom, which due to its particularities cannot be entrusted to teachers of other specialties because they also need a technical preparation of aptitudes that not all of them possess. The University of Pedagogical Sciences has the task today of training these educators, with an integrating vision of the arts that makes the teaching-learning process a space for cultural learning, with a humanistic and creative spirit. In this sense, the objective of this work is to characterize the evolution of the artistic educator's training to face the challenges of the new improvement of education in Cuba, based on the author's experience in teaching and as a member of research projects related to the subject.
