Environmental education is a priority in the integral formation of citizens, but its perception from the professional perception is assumed as an essential aspect in the current context. In this sense, the article presented here aims to support environmental education as a pedagogical mechanism for sustainability, due to the limited knowledge and updating for teachers and students of the Bachelor's Degree in Construction Education from the professional pedagogical process of the discipline Project, Construction and Conservation of Civil Works. As a solution, the insertion of the environmental content from the pedagogical budgets is proposed as a response to a social demand. Definitions and considerations of pedagogues and researchers, environmental and sustainability concepts associated to contents of the discipline Project, Construction and Conservation of Civil Works for the development of environmental education in students and teachers are presented. Philosophical, sociological, psychological, pedagogical and technological foundations are presented, which contribute to the determination of methods, conceptions and results from the theoretical and methodological point of view, meaning new ways to work on environmental education.
