Resumen
DE LA PARTE PEREZ, Lincoln. Anestesia en la operación de Fontan. Rev Cubana Pediatr [online]. 2002, vol.74, n.4, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3119.
Fontan´s technique offers the first physiological operation for tricuspid atresia by complete separation of systemic and pulmonary circulation. This procedure is based on the principle that the right atrium pressure is enough to assure an adequate blood flow to the lungs, which makes the function of right ventricle unnecessary. After the introduction of this procedure, there is a hope for those patients with only one ventricle, therefore, this is an increasingly frequent technique applied in the cardiovascular anesthesia service. Such a reality was the main reason for presenting an updated literature review of the anesthetic technique that should be used in this surgical procedure.
