Resumen

NASIFF HADAD, Alfredo  y  MUNIZ LODOS, Eugenia G. Lipicid: software para la detección, evaluación  y tratamiento de las dislipidemias. Rev Cubana Invest Bioméd [online]. 1999, vol.18, n.2, pp. 86-90. ISSN 1561-3011.

Due to the pathogenic importance of plasma lipoproteins in the development of atherosclerosis and to the high prevalence of any clinical form of this disease, a group of experts from "Hermanos Ameijeiras" Hospital and the Central Digital Research Institute in Havana endeavored to create a computarized systems for diagnosing and treating every dislipidemia patient in a uniform way in addition stimulating an adequate lifestyle and promoting the knowledge of risk factors measures to act upon the modifiable factors. The systems is based on the experience of the Lipid Clinics of "Hermanos Ameijeiras" Hospital which uses, among others, the criteria of the Second National Cholesterol Education Expert Panel in USA. The system called LIPIDIC is a Windows application, FoxPro-type databases store information on patients and a DOS application called LIPINFO analyzes such information. LIPICID detects dyslipidemia by using lipidograms and makes a survey to detect individual and family background; reflects the positive elements when making a physical examination, such as santoma, lipoid arch, body mass index, blood pressure; recommends the supplementary test for secondary causes of dyslipidemias and determines the presence of preclinical atherosclerosis. Finally LIPICID recommends the non-pharmacological treatment and in a further stage, the pharmacological treatment. LIPICID is an instrument that may be easily operated by any physician, has a questionable teaching value and is a useful tool of high practical value.

Palabras clave : SOFTWARE, HYPERLIPIDEMIA [diagnosis]; HYPERLIPIDEMIA [therapy].
