Resumen

CLAPES HERNANDEZ, Sonia. Diabetes mellitus, estrés oxidativo y embarazo. Rev Cubana Invest Bioméd [online]. 2000, vol.19, n.3, pp. 191-195. ISSN 1561-3011.

The oxidative stress is a state that is characterized by an unbalance between the production of reactive oxygen species and the antioxidant capacity of the cells. The involvement of oxidative stress in different pathologies has been showed in, among others, diabetes mellitus and pregnancy, although the latter is not a pathological state but a state of metabolic adaptation. During pregnancy, there are modifications in the metabolism of cellular biomolecules, particularly in lipids and proteins, together with oxidative modifications that increase if the pregnant woman is a diabetes mellitus carrier

Palabras clave : OXIDATIVE STRESS; PREGNANCY IN DIABETES [metabolism]; PREGNANCY IN DIABETES [enzimology].
