BORROTO DIAZ, Gerardo; BARCELO ACOSTA, Malicela; CORDERO ROJAS, Norma  y  SOTO MATOS, Josanne. Trasplante renal: Asociación entre dislipemia e insulinorresistencia. Rev Cubana Invest Bioméd [online]. 2002, vol.21, n.3, pp. 155-160. ISSN 1561-3011.

80 patients with renal transplantations were studied to corroborate that the alterations of the plasmatic lipids and insulin resistance are frequent events that are closely related to them. It was determined the existance of insulin resistance by the 2-hour glucose tolerance test with dosage of insulinemia. The insulin resistance with insulinemias of 2 hours over 60 WN/mL and glycaemia/insulinemia ratio during fasting lower than 6 and Mathew’s ratio under 3.2 was considered. A complete lipidogram was also performed. The mean values of triglycerides, very low density proteins, cholesterol and low density proteins were higher in patients with insulin resistance, on comparing them with the non-insulin-resistant patients. The triglycerides were statistically significant, whereas the low density protein-cholesterol was lower among the insulin-resistant patients. A higher frequency of hypertriglyceridemia and hypercholesterolemia was also observed in insulin-resistant patients, which is significant, as well as a higher frequency of decrease of the high density protein-cholesterol.
