A female patient who had been suffering from idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura for more than 24 years was presented. She had undergone splenectomy and she was refractory to therapy with a great number of agents. She had been treated with a combination of sodium ascorbate and extracts from Achillea millefolium. The quality of life of the patient improved significantly and she was able to have 3 children. It was made a report of the 8-year follow-up of this patient, the implications in the understanding of ITP and its potential treatment.
