The application of an educational intervention program aimed at preparing the alcoholic’s family from the cognitive point of view to contribute to the patient’s rehabilitation adequately is shown. This program is based on the study of the level of knowledge about alcoholism in a selected population and on the identification of its learning needs. The results are evaluated starting from the variables obtained in the study of the families. The changes observed in these families receiving attention is positive. The statistical assessment of the data for the evaluation of the modifications that occurred in the group is presented and the effectiveness of this program is demonstrated. The generalization of this methodology as another variant in the family intervention at the primary health care level is recommended
