The article analyzes the importance of the role of the teacher in the mediation and solution of conflicts in their students; which favorably affects the development of emotional intelligence. The researched population was of teachers and students of the Educational Units of the Baba canton, Los Ríos province, Ecuador. After applying a test of emotional intelligence test and another of conflict mediation, it was determined that the teacher has a positive influence on the development of emotional intelligence, self-reflection and self-regulation of students when it adequately solves conflicts.
