The article aims to analyze the training process from an integrative and systemic approach, in the context of university strategic planning. He focused on training both in pre and postgraduate, as a fundamental process in university management, which, integrated with others, such as research, extension and management of human, material and financial resources favor innovation and continuous improvement in the Higher Education institutions, mainly in Cuba. The strategic direction has been established on the island as a state policy and must be carried out both at the organizational and national level, although challenges such as the individual efforts of teachers, the higher quality of the teaching-educational process, and the continuity of work are still posed methodological that contributes to this end. It refers to several legal provisions issued by the Ministry of Higher Education in effect as of 2018 related to training in universities, and presents some results of the balance of this process at the University of Cienfuegos during the 2018-2019 academic year.
