Levelling is a semester course established in the Ecuadorian National Academic Regime Regulations that seeks to level and homogenize the knowledge of students seeking to enter university; due to the great variety of place of origin and diversity in secondary education, there was a high level of student dropout in the first semesters, with students having greater difficulties in their studies because they did not have a common starting point. Despite an initial resistance of the population to the Levelling System because it was considered to restrict university entrance, violating the right to education, its application from 2012 showed positive effects. The present research shows the results obtained by students in two levelling courses at the Superior Polytechnic school of Chimborazo in two different academic periods, and how their initial evaluations with approval rates of 3% to 16% in each course went up to levels of 71% to 83% respectively, managing not only to equalize the students' knowledge but also to prepare them for the start of their third level education by drastically reducing dropouts from the first levels due to academic causes.
