Resumen

MORALES HERNANDEZ, Sergio A; RIZO-ACOSTA, Pavel; HERNANDEZ-ROJAS, María E  y  DAVILA-GOMEZ, José A. Biohydrogen production in a UASB continuous reactor. Rev Cub Quim [online]. 2015, vol.27, n.1, pp. 65-78. ISSN 2224-5421.

This paper was carried out with chemical reactors approach. An anaerobic reactor of sludge upflow (UASB) was continuously operated in two periods, for a total of 180 days, to produce hydrogen by fermentation, using as substrate, diluted molasses and an experimental method of accelerated promotion for responses characterization. Inoculum was obtained from active sludge from a residual waste water treatment. In the first period (60 d), the conditions of temperature, pH, reaction kinetics Gompertz parameters (critical initial time, maximum rate and max production plafond) and conditions without recirculation supply and delivery were determined. Second and last period was divided in five stages: the first one, continuous feed and recirculating flow conditions stabilization and four stages on manipulating significant factors like feeding and recirculation rates. Average results performance showed that both, recirculation rate and feeding flow have effect on the reactor behavior.

Palabras clave : hydrogen; biorefinery; anaerobic fermentation; UASB reactor; Gompertz equation.
