Resumen

PANEQUE-QUEVEDO, Armando Augusto. Crystal, the natural three-dimensional diffraction grating. Rev Cub Quim [online]. 2015, vol.27, n.2, pp. 147-162. ISSN 2224-5421.

The vast structural information obtained from studies of crystalline materials can be considered the pedestal of the great discoveries made in science since the early twentieth century. As recognition for these contributions have been awarded a total of 29 Nobel Prizes and its importance, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 2014 the "International Year of Crystallography". The crystalline material, although not perfect, will continue to be, the natural diffraction to diffract X-rays. Crystal will continue to be the medium in which to find the most accurate information from which to continue building materials, information base to s tructure-activity studies and explain the chemical reactivity and catalytic properties of many substances of interest. This paper aims to highlight the most important achievements and recognize the contributions of all those who have worked in this area of scientific knowledge.

Palabras clave : X-ray; crystallography; structure; solids; symmetry.
