Resumen

HERNANDEZ-MEDEL, María del Rosario; SOLIS-FUENTES, Julio Alberto  y  MENDEZ-VENTURA, Lilia Mireya. Anthraquinones from Picramnia polyantha. Rev Cub Quim [online]. 2016, vol.28, n.3, pp. 805-817. ISSN 2224-5421.

Picramnia species have been appreciated in traditional medicine for its healing properties to counteract the effect of some gastric and intestinal disorders as well as in the malaria and syphilis treatment. Picramnia polyantha is a rare species that is found in various regions of Mesoamerica. Extracts of stem and leaf of this species were separated by column chromatography to achieve the isolation and identification of chrysophanol, emodin, aloe-emodin, β-sitosterol and its glucoside as acetyl derivative, 7-hydroxycoumarin, emodin glucoside and, first time of this species, the pair of diastereoisomeric C-glucosylanthrones known as 10-hydroxyaloins A and B, in addition to mixture of chrysophanol glucosides. The structural elucidation of all isolated metabolites was performed by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy, and by comparison with authentic samples in some cases. In addition, the toxicity of these extracts was determined.

Palabras clave : Picramnia polyantha; anthraquinones; hydroxyaloins; glucosides.
