MATOS-TAMAYO, Roger y VERA-PREVAL, Fárida. STUDY OF SOLID DERIVATIVES OBTAINED FROM THE ELECTROCOAGULATION OF DISTILLERY MUST AS INHIBITOR OF COPPER CORROSION IN AMMONIACAL SOLUTIONS AT HIGH TEMPERATURES. RTQ [online]. 2011, vol.31, n.1, pp. 81-92. ISSN 2224-6185.
This work is part of one of the research conducted by the Faculty of Chemical Engineering at the Universidad de Oriente, in the search for solutions to economically reduce corrosion of metal equipment and materials. The main objective is the analysis of variables influencing the corrosion rate of technical copper in ammonia solutions and efficiency of organic inhibitors derived from the vinaza or rectified alcohol distilleries. The solid used as an inhibitor in this study were obtained from the electrocoagulation of distillery vinaza obtained in Combined Argeo Martinez in the province of Guantánamo Corrosion experiments were conducted in blank or without the presence of inhibitor, and inhibitors and mixtures thereof using the gravimetric method. The corrosion inhibitors used for copper in ammonia solutions at elevated temperatures, were the products obtained from the electrocoagulation of the vinaza, a waste product of the distillation alcohol: the sludge and scum. The analysis of the influence of variables on the corrosion rate common brass in ammonia solutions, was developed through a nonlinear regression obtained in the professional program STATGRAPHICS 5.1, considering as independent variables: temperature and inhibitor concentration at a fixed pH value to obtain optimal combinations of these variables to ensure more efficient inhibition of corrosion and attack of copper by ammonia solutions. The results were satisfactory, since the use of inhibitory substances showed that the values of corrosion rate had a significant decrease in the temperature range between 30 - 50 ºC, regardless of which prevented the strong dissolution of copper in ammonia solutions as the inhibitor concentration to reach a stable corrosion rate.
