CALZADILLA RODRIGUEZ, Iraida y RICARDO LUIS, Roger. Undergraduate thesis tutoring from whatsapp, necessary assumption leaving covid 19. ARCIC [online]. 2020, vol.9, n.24, pp. 107-127. Epub 18-Ene-2021. ISSN 2411-9970.
Until this academic year 2019-2020, marked by the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) on a global scale, the instant messaging promoted by the WhatsApp application had not been a work benchmark for the professors of the Department of Journalism of the Faculty of Communication of the University of La Habana in degree thesis tutorials. However, in the face of an unprecedented educational context in which non-presence was imposed due to physical distancing, the support of new technologies in any of the areas of daily life became unpostponable, especially with regard to the required tutorial work systematic monitoring of students in the last year of their career, required to present the diploma investigation in the school period agreed by Cuban Higher Education. This article presents the experience of two tutors of 10 theses from the discipline of Print Journalism. Of these, nine were in the production mode -includes research report and communicative product- and one communicative. These teachers, starting from the creation of a group on WhatsApp, guided the work, established cooperation ties and spaces for debate, natural aspects that are fostered during the teaching process. The results of the collective work, supported by the responses given by the students to the interviews used as a research technique, indicate satisfaction with the experience, valued as useful and potentially applicable to other scenarios of the so-called new normality.
