INTRODUCTION: Inguinal hernia is a frequent affection in young people with more predominance of male then the female one. Its correction is achieved only by surgery. Aims of present study wee to assess results of without tension Hernioplasty using autogenic flaps as well as to determine its usefulness for treatment of 3, 4 and 5 degrees inguinal hernias according to the Gilbert's classification (1989) for this situation in particular. METHODS: Authors conducted a prospective and descriptive study of patients diagnosed with inguinal hernias underwent without tension inguinal Hernioplasty using autogenous triangular flap from aponeurosis of abdominal rectus muscle. Hernias corresponded to 3, 4 and 5 degrees according the Gilber't classification treated between February, 2004 and February, 2008. RESULTS: Study sample included 81 male patients, 60 of them presenting with inguinal hernias and 21 direct hernias. Man age of was of 31 years. The 71,60% (58 patients) were operated on in short stage regime, and the remainder 23 with ambulatory major surgery (28,39%). Complications were: surgical wound hematoma and postsurgical orchitis without reproductions. Follow-up of patients was fulfilled in external consultations. CONCLUSIONS: Repair of direct and indirect inguinal hernias using autogenous flap is satisfactory. Complication founded included surgical wound hematoma and orchitis. There were not relapses with use of this technique.
