Bio-informatics can be defined as the application of informatics sciences to solve biological problems. Its application is more necessary every day, and also common in the field of life sciences research. In our country, cancer occupies the first cause of death among the population, that is why the research on this health problem in all research center, an in particular in the National Institute of Oncology and Radiology (INOR) are of the outmost importance. The present work is aimed at characterizing the introduction of bio-informatics in INOR in order to find the factors and elements that influence this process. Thus, an interview to an expert was carried out, and a poll was applied to evaluate INOR´s workers knowledge of bio-informatics. A historical and contextual analysis is performed, in which all relevant social groups in the process of introduction are regarded.
