Currently there is much emphasis on the importance of the cooperative learning model, therefore, considering the foundations of this model, and the forms of the process in the professional training of dentists in Mexico, we sought to analyze the characteristics that define learning in the training process of the dentist, to determine if there is a relationship with the cooperative learning model, for which a qualitative, analytical, descriptive and interpretative research was carried out, the analysis was performed with the help of Hyper research program. It is highlighted in the results that, both in theoretical and clinical subjects, work is done in teams with positive interdependence, individual responsibility, face-to-face interaction, and interpersonal skills. It is concluded that since dental training was planned, formalized, and established as a profession, it has been characterized by carrying out actions in the teaching-learning process that are part of the cooperative learning model.
