Resumen

RAVENET RAMIREZ, Mariana. Experiencias y retos del análisis sociológico en salud. Rev Cubana Salud Pública [online]. 2003, vol.29, n.4, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3127.

In a brief analysis of the use of quantitative and qualitative methods taking the evolution of social sciences as basis, this paper underlines the instrumental influence of the current research work that adapts to theoretical or hypothetical aims and to very general management objectives in spite of the fact that it recognizes the need for methodological pluralism and the articulation of analysis at different levels. Through experience accumulated in spatial-territorial research works by the Human Health and Well-being Center of the University of Havana, the epistemological approach of geographical space is underlined as a way of achieving more comprehensive analyses that will identify the heterogeneity of society and will contribute to the development of differentiated health policies and actions. On the basis of integrated and flexible strategic theories, some practical and ethical challenges are presented to social researchers in the health care field
