The cognitive, communicative and sociocultural approach (CCSA) used in Cuba for language teaching has had applications in other areas, including non-philological ones, with proven results in research and also in the teaching of foreign languages, specifically Spanish as a second language (EL2). Its theoretical basis in Vigotsky and Van Dijk, favor the analysis of its sociocultural dimension in the social and intercultural relationship established between non-Spanish speaking foreign students, who use the Spanish language as an instrument of communication, and native spanish-speaking students. This facilitates a more natural and authentic learning of the Spanish language. It is from these considerations that an assessment of interculturality is made from the sociocultural dimension of the CCSA.
