Taking into account that in Cuban educational context, the entrance of students into pedagogical careers, constitutes an imperative to face the educational demands of each territory, the development of a professional orientation directed especially to the teaching profession is an imperative, aspect that acquires special significance in senior high school, given the proximity of a decision about the professional future of the students. The authors start from the knowledge of the insufficiencies in the quality of the entrance to the University and Pedagogic School of Pinar del Río, and realize an exploratory study by means of the application of quantitative and qualitative methods to a sample of students and professors with the objective of analyzing the behavior of professional orientation towards pedagogical careers, whose results point to the need to promote a greater emotional bond of students with the work of educators and the awareness of the need and value of this profession by teachers and families.
