The professional pedagogical formation in Biology teachers in Cuba has 55 years of existence. The historical analysis reveals transformations related with the school necessities and the development of biological sciences in order to improve the professional role of biology teachers in the formation of the new generations in a context of the education for sustainable development. The purpose of this article is to analyze the educative tendencies related with the formation of biology teachers in Cuba, which are the result of the evolution of theory and methodology conceptions taken into consideration in the curriculum for teacher’s formation in the period between 1964-20019.
