Seawater pollution is related to one of the main environmental problems in Cuba. The Nuevita’s Bay presents a moderate level of pollution, mainly due to direct discharges from 17 industrial pollutant sources as well as domestic waste from the population. In this work, the polluting load generated by five industries that tribute to the bay was evaluated, which represent 30% of the polluting sources in the municipality. For the analysis of wastewater, composite samples were made at the main discharge points of each facility, including all productive activities. The methods described in the Standard Methods for the Examination of Water were used. It was shown that in general the facilities exceed the maximum permissible limits for COD according to the values described in the Cuban standard and only two of them for the BOD5 parameter.
