Communication strategies and experiences derived from research-action are presented, where university students from different disciplines participate, with social institutions, including the population served; in congruence with the priorities set forth by the Institutional Development Plan 2015-2019, which promotes strengthening the current schemes and programs for linking the UABC with society; therefore, through academic practices of "Transdisciplinary Intervention Projects" and the "USIC" social service program, issues of food security, economic autonomy with a gender perspective, rickettsiosis prevention and nutrition were addressed; among other; resulting in various actions undertaken by university students of Communication and Education Sciences, Psychology, Veterinary Sciences, Law, Nutrition, Gastronomy and Agronomy; with the inclusion of children, youth and adults from vulnerable or rural communities; that through focus groups, workshops, conferences, puppet theater or other symbolic forms, they promoted their appropriation; all this in connection with the Health Secretary of the State of Baja California and a rural development agency that in turn was governed by the Secretariat of Agricultural Development and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO); benefiting more than 3,700 residents of Mexicali and Ensenada, Baja California, from 2015 to 2019.
