The article analyzes some problems faced by the Latin American left in recent years, as well as the challenges they represent for the new emerging left and progressivisms. From the theoretical heritage of the Marxist variant of the dependency theory and other contemporary theories about the state, the main contradictions faced by these governments in the economic and political field are highlighted. Finally, some challenges for Cuba in this scenario are discussed in its relationship with the new left and progressivism.
