RODRIGUEZ LABRADA, Magdiel; SOSA MORALES, Delia Eugenia y TRUFFIN HERNANDEZ, Rosa Caridad. Orientation of the student's self-preparation in the Otorhinolaryngology subject in the fifth year of Medicine. EDUMECENTRO [online]. 2022, vol.14 Epub 30-Mayo-2022. ISSN 2077-2874.
Background:
undergraduate teaching should train professionals who acquire knowledge and skills to act correctly in practice, and for this, the correct orientation of self-preparation is essential for the solidity of what has been learned.
Objective:
to develop methodological actions which provide a solution to the existing difficulties in the orientation of the self-preparation of the students of the 5th year of Medicine in the Otorhinolaryngology subject.
Methods:
an investigation was carried out from an exploratory and prospective development project about the orientation of self-preparation carried out by teachers in the Otolaryngology subject at the "Arnaldo Milián Castro" University Clinical-Surgical Hospital in the month of October 2020. Theoretical methods were used for the foundation of the research and empirical ones: questionnaire to students and teachers.
Results:
it was found that in the aforementioned subject the students do not study the necessary time, the bibliography is insufficient and outdated, self-preparation is not correctly oriented and it is not taken into account in all types of teaching activities of the program. Methodological actions were developed which were assessed by specialists.
Conclusions:
the methodological actions were aimed at deepening the orientation of the students' self-preparation, after having identified the existing difficulties. They were assessed by specialists as pertinent, useful, feasible, and positive criteria were issued on the general quality of the proposal.
