RUBIO OLIVARES, Doris Yisell; HERRERA LEON, Lorenzo; ALVAREZ MUNIZ, Manuel y GRAN ALVAREZ, Miriam. Characterization of the intrauterine life in a pregnancy cohort . Rev Cubana Obstet Ginecol [online]. 2004, vol.30, n.3, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3062.
The information about pregnancies, according to weeks of gestation, has never been used in Cuba. In order to know the distribution according to the time of gestation of the fetal deaths and of the live births, and the estimation of the risks for a pregnancy to conclude as a live birth, a fetal death, or to continue like that, the pregnancy cohort was retrospectively reconstructed for 20 weeks of gestation using the data of the live births and of the fetal deaths, classified by weeks of gestation, from 1996 to 1998.The bimodality in the distribution of fetal deaths and the distributions with marked assimetry in births were among the most significant results. As regards risks, it was observed that the live birth showed a lineal ascending behavior, whereas for fetal mortality the conditional risk described a rather irregular curve, that ascends up to week 26th, then descends until weeks 35th and 36th, and it ascends again to the end of pregnancy.
