Resumen

CARDENAS RAMON, Itsel  y  MARTINEZ CAMILO, Rodolfo Valentín. Evaluation of a behavior method in oligohydramnios. Rev Cubana Obstet Ginecol [online]. 2006, vol.32, n.2, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3062.

Oligohydramnios (amniotic fluid index £ 5cm) is considered as a high obstetric risk, since it increases fetal morbimortality and makes dangerous to prolongue gestation. For this reason, a prospective, longitudinal and descriptive study was undertaken to identify the behavior of oligohydramnios, as well as the conduct followed and the results obtained in 28-week and over pregnant women that received attention at the Gynecoobstetric Teaching Hospital of Guanabacoa during 2 years. The universe of patients that presented an amniotic fluid index (AFI) £ 5 cm , according to obstetric ultrasound, was studied. The sample was composed of 200 pregnant women, coinciding with the universe. Two behavior methods were studied: one expectant and the other of pregnancy interruption in 24 hours. Oligohydramnios was observed in 4.3 %, with a predominance of those of mild intensity in preterm newborns. Pregnancy was interrupted in 60 % for the first amniotic fluid index. Perinatal mortality was 1.5 % and morbidity, though low (15 %) was more frequently present in preterm pregnancies. There were no significant differences as regards the perinatal results, according to both conducts. That's why, it is recommended the expectant behavior whenever it is possible, and to start trying other treatments existing at the international level, such as oral and parenteral maternal hydrotherapy.

Palabras clave : Oligohydramnios; behavior; morbidity and perinatal mortality..
