In Higher Education, Chemistry offers multiple edges to achieve a teaching-learning process that favors education for life. In order to improve the quality of student learning results, adequate preparation of the group of teachers and tutors is required, that allows them to conceive tasks with different levels of complexity according to actual level of development of the students. In this study is proposed an independent work system in General Chemistry I subject, in order to favor students’ performance in university. Theoretical and empirical methods such as analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, the survey, the interview among others are used. Superiority is achieved in the domain of chemical contents and the treatment of the differentiated exercise system and its levels of complexity are considered adequate, raising their performance in the teaching learning process.
