Resumen
TORRES ESPERON, Julia Maricela y URBINA LAZA, Omayda. Nursing in the Cuban public health. Rev Cubana Salud Pública [online]. 2009, vol.35, n.1, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3127.
A descriptive study was conducted to analyze the development of nursing in the Cuban public health in the last 50 years of revolution. Theoretical methods like analysis, synthesis and historical/logical procedure were applied. It was concluded that the development of the Cuban nursing in the national healthcare system has allowed this discipline to advance as a member of health teams for interdisciplinary exchange and, at the same time, to take a leading position that makes it paradigmatic in Latin America and worldwide. Assistance, management and teaching in the sphere of nursing have experienced an increasing improvement since 1959; however, the situation has not been the same in research. Therefore, the integration and development of research in this field would complete an exemplary model of care for the country.
