GONZALEZ VALCARCEL, Kenia; HERNANDEZ DIAZ, Danay y PEDRAZA ALONSO, Noel E. Compatibility between the clinical and anatomopathological diagnosis in the services of the University Hospital Arnaldo Milián Castro. Medicentro Electrónica [online]. 2014, vol.18, n.4, pp. 163-170. ISSN 1029-3043.
A descriptive observational study was carried out with the objective of determining the quality of clinical diagnoses of causes of death at the Provincial Hospital «Arnaldo Milián Castro» during 2009. Coincidences in clinical and anatomopathological diagnoses of the 661 patients underwent autopsies in this year were established. Sensitivity and specificity were determined as quality indicators for the clinical diagnosis. There were analyzed the five services, which represented the most affected ones regarding deceased patients. Figures were higher in critical care unit and internal medicine service, although there were only studied those who received this procedure. A high percentage with no coicidence at all in diagnoses was reported, as much for the basic cause of death, as for the direct cause of death. Specificity was very good, however sensitivity was low. As a conclusion, the quality of the clinical diagnosis in the analyzed services was deficient.
