Background
The preparation of professionals to obtain scientific and research level is a priority in the Health sector. The Sagua la Grande Faculty of Medical Sciences has developed several strategies, without the expected result in the indicators of scientific productivity and the development of professionals.
Objective
to develop a methodological strategy for the health professionals’ scientific development in the Sagua la Grande municipality.
Methods
a descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out at the Sagua la Grande Faculty of Medical Sciences, province of Villa Clara, in the period 2019-2021. All health professionals from the municipality were included (N = 1527). The survey, document analysis, and source triangulation were applied. The variables analyzed were: occupational category, scientific degree and master's degree, among others. Taking into account the results of the diagnosis, a methodological strategy was designed for the scientific development of these professionals.
Results
the diagnosis showed insufficient number of professionals with a specialty of II degree (1.04 %), scientific degree (0.26 %) and investigative categories (2.29 %); likewise, the number of scientific publications. The strategy designed included a set of methodological actions, a chair for doctorate training, a pre-doctoral diploma and a technical scientific service in consultancy for publications.
Conclusion
All the experts valued the methodological strategy designed as quite adequate. The actions included in it have the task of contributing to the scientific development of health professionals.
