In the context of physiotherapy of the sport activity and physical training, one of the first processes that must be implemented is the physiotherapy evaluation; it is useful, in the first diagnosis and later determines the appropriate therapeutic procedure. It is an evaluative process that constitutes a route for education, orientation, physical assessment and injury prevention; in addition, it comprises therapeutic procedures to avoid postural alterations in the practitioners. In the article the theoretical referents are considered about the physiotherapeutic evaluation in the physical activity, components and valuation of the somatotype, the anthropometry, flexibility and the postural alterations in the sport practice. The study allows us to assume that physiotherapeutic evaluation contributes to the health and performance of athletes and, in turn, promotes the transition to a process of prevention and empowerment of the patient-athlete.
