RIVERO RODRIGUEZ, Elida María; CARMENATE FUENTES, Luis Pastor y LEON GARCIA, Gisela de los Ángeles. Teaching professionalism from their essential competences. Experiences and projections of the academic development of the Technical University of Machala. Conrado [online]. 2019, vol.15, n.67, pp. 170-176. Epub 02-Jun-2019. ISSN 1990-8644.
The quality of the university graduate depends on several factors that interact harmonically in their training. Among them, the professionalization of the teacher stands out, demonstrated in its essential competences, which have an impact on the effectiveness of the educational process. Professionalization, as a process, is a demand that comes from social development and as a trend, it is desirable because it guarantees greater quality in the teaching performance. For the university professor, this process converges in two dimensions: that of teacher and that of researcher. The work that is presented has the purpose of exposing the partial results of the application of a plan of academic improvement in the Technical University of Machala; derived from the application of theoretical and empirical methods. The results obtained allowed the structuring of said plan, the projection of the pyramid of educational categories of the University from relating the system of courses with the demands of each of them and the planning of the individual professionalization of each teacher.
