This bibliographic review type work with a qualitative approach has the purpose of calling for critical and reasoned reflection, to understand from the educational needs of the student, the emerging and constantly changing dynamics of the educational event and innovation, in order to contribute to establishing in a coherent and pertinent way, the relationships between the teaching-educational process and the research component. The study was based on hermeneutic, content analysis and analytical-synthetic methods. Among the main findings is that formative research aims to provide students with the possibility of assuming favorable attitudes towards research processes. They are considered teaching-learning strategies based on productive methods and meaningful learning by discovery. They are not exclusive to the university environment; they can be used in the other teaching subsystems.
