Domestic violence is a multidimensional phenomenon, its explanations are varied and its rate of occurrence changes according to the social stratum, educational level, age or gender of those involved. Objective: to critically analyze the incidence of this type of violence within families and its impact on the school performance of adolescents of the Vicente Fierro Educational Unit in the city of Tulcan. Methodology: The research was descriptive in nature, using the survey technique, using a pre-designed questionnaire composed of 30 items, related to the circumstances that occur within the student's family environment, supported by key questions on domestic violence in relation to academic performance. Results: The results obtained show that domestic violence has a significant influence on 8th and 10th grade students, who perceive greater violence and have low academic levels.
