Soft skills, also known as social skills, allow the person who possesses them to perform effectively in their work activities, which has been highly valued by companies. The objective of this paper is to analyze the importance of teaching soft skills in education and the need to incorporate them in a higher education curriculum. The methodology used corresponds to a selection of scientific articles, indexed in recognized databases such as Scopus, Woss and Scielo; the type of research is quantitative, since a documentary and descriptive analysis of the texts has been carried out. The analysis revealed that the authors agree that these skills should be integrated into basic and higher education curricula, which would help to provide quality education. The study found that communication skills, teamwork, problem solving and time management are among the necessary skills to be developed in students and future professionals for their social and professional development.
