Geo-resources constitute an essential component for sustainable territorial planning and development. Although government management becomes fundamental in this, the contributions of citizens depend on social perceptions of the environment from holistic and interdisciplinary approaches. Such efforts verify the results of the formative processes of the education achieved. Thus, the objective of this research assesses from the systematization of several scientific results coming from geo-sciences and social sciences, the variety, richness and territorial complexities of geo-resources and the social perceptions of these. The research synthesizes multiple days of field work and several scientific reports. The results show how geological evolution shapes the territorial morphology giving diverse connotations to its landscape and history, thus merging nature, society and culture. This research shows the power of the interdisciplinary action of earth sciences and social sciences in the management of the development of a municipality. Thirty-seven interviews with citizens of different areas of residence, age and gender are collected, verifying the failures in the valuation of geodiversity. Interdisciplinary actions are defined and proposed that can contribute to subvert the pointed out deficits.
