The following research shows the results about the teacher’s perception in higher education regarding to the integration of core functions in Ecuadorian higher education particularly in a private university that has been already qualified, taking in consideration for comparison purposes the experiences of other contexts and the different strategies that have accomplished the system configuration for the processes related to teaching, research and social responsibility for undergraduate higher education inside a university. The results display the existing contrast between an approach that is based in formative research and other cases in which the articulation is proposed from the social responsibility function for the Latin American context or from the highly developed research in the European and Northern American context, this reference framework creates the proper space to discuss about the current challenges in higher education for Ecuador and for the global context, how the integration of core functions can be reached and how it allows to ensure the accomplishment of the objectives related to the process of undergraduate higher education.
