Resumen
HINOSTROZA DUENAS, Guillermo; HERMIDA MENDOZA, Lilibeth Nathaly y SALAZAR MORENO, Santiago Andrés. Deviation of a social nature of the savings and credit cooperatives located in segment 1 of the Portoviejo canton. Cofin [online]. 2023, vol.17, n.2 Epub 01-Jul-2023. ISSN 2073-6061.
The Savings and Credit Cooperatives (COACs) were created in order to provide credit assistance to vulnerable populations, so that they can progressively reduce their poverty levels. Specifically, for the Portoviejo canton, and in relation to those located in segment 1 such as «15 de Abril» cooperative, consumer financing represents 43.39% of the total portfolio, while for «Commerce» cooperative the productive type is the majority with 54.38% (microcredit only covers 2.32% of the total). Additionally, the services and products offered have a lot of isomorphism with respect to banking, with the transfer of technological innovation existing in many cases, thus confirming the deviation from their social and natural objectives. In light of the above, and around the financial results of the entities in question, isomorphism with banking was diagnosed for factors such as net unproductive assets, productive assets/total assets, operating expenses/assets, personnel expenses/assets, fiscal year results/average assets, performance of consumer, real estate and microcredit portfolios.
