JADAN SOLIS, Katty Pilar; CRUZ CRESPO, Amado; NAJARRO QUINTERO, Rodolfo y PERDOMO GONZALEZ, Lorenzo. CIRCULAR ECONOMY APPROACH FOR OBTAINING FLUXES FOR HARDFACING WITH THE USE OF SLAG G. cen. az. [online]. 2023, vol.50, n.1 Epub 18-Mar-2023. ISSN 2223-4861.
Introduction:
The production of fluxes for hardfacing by submerged arc welding is based on the consumption of natural minerals. However, there are slags that contain the oxide systems required for a flux. Hardfacing makes it possible to reincorporate worn parts into service.
Objective:
To evaluate, by means of the Circular Economy approach, the obtaining of fluxes from slags for hardfacing by submerged arc welding.
Materials and Methods:
A conceptual scheme is proposed, with a Circular Economy approach, to obtain fluxes for hardfacing, using slag and conceiving hardfacing for the restitution to service of worn parts or to manufacture parts with greater durability. Two variants are proposed: The production of ferroalloys, using slags as matrix for a flux, and the obtaining of fluxes, using slags discarded from other productions.
Results and Discussion:
Different cases are addressed: 1. Obtaining ferrochromium-manganese, conceiving the use of slags as a matrix of a hardfacing flux; 2. Obtaining a hardfacing flux, using slags from submerged arc welding; 3. Obtaining a hardfacing flux, using slag from steel production. The fluxes obtained make hardfacing possible, for the rehabilitation of worn parts or for the manufacture of more wear-resistant parts.
Conclusions:
The conceptual scheme is validated, by a Circular Economy approach, in obtaining fluxes for hardfacing with the use of slag, making possible the restoration to service of worn parts or to manufacture new, higher-quality parts.
