Some reflections on the methodological procedure for the study of the reading comprehension of the students of Engineering in Metallurgy and Materials are presented from the chronicles of Ernesto Che Guevara. The assessment of the ideas contained in this type of literary production, because they are linked to the profile of this professional, serves as a foundation for the attitudes, values, qualities and modes of action of the future engineer. For this, the theoretical methods were used: analysis-synthesis, induction-deduction and the empirical ones: document review, interview and participant observation.
