Resumen
MORILLA GUZMAN, Andrés Armando. Minimally Invasive Administration of Exogenous Surfactant. Rev Cubana Pediatr [online]. 2023, vol.95 Epub 30-Jun-2023. ISSN 1561-3119.
Introduction:
The minimally invasive method for surfactant´s administration was first described in 1992 and it resulted in current technique for administering surfactant (tensioactivo)
Objective:
To evaluate essential aspects of the minimally invasive method of surfactant administration.
Methods:
An exploratory descriptive article was conducted, for which a literature search was performed between 2017 and 2021 with the keywords surfactant and non-invasive methods of surfactant administration.
Analysis and synthesis of the information:
Less invasive methods of surfactant administration were defined and described. The different techniques used for surfactant administration with the minimally invasive method were reviewed, and drugs used in the method and their advantages, surfactant dosage and relevant indications were discussed. The ventilatory modalities used, criteria for determining failure of the method of administration, and complications that occur were also presented.
Conclusions:
The administration of surfactant with the minimally invasive technique proved to be a safe and effective method that avoids complications secondary to invasive ventilatory modalities.
Palabras clave : pulmonary surfactant; non-invasive methods of surfactant administration; secondary complications.
