PINO ESPINOZA, Gustavo Eduardo; MEJIA NARRO, Elizabeth Catheline; DEL CARPIO DELGADO, Fabrizio y BARRIOS, Bertha Silvana Vera. Correlation between engagement and academic performance of undergraduate students: UNAM, Moquegua and Ilo, 2022. Rev. Cubana Edu. Superior [online]. 2023, vol.42, n.3 Epub 30-Nov-2023. ISSN 0257-4314.
The research evaluated the correlation between engagement and academic performance of students at the National University of Moquegua. Data from 688 students were collected using a measurement instrument for academic engagement. Statistical tests such as Chi-square and Spearman's Rho correlation were applied. The results showed that 48.7% of students had a high level of engagement, followed by 36.0% with a medium level, 11.2% with a very high level, and 3.8% and 0.3% with low and very low levels respectively. Regarding academic performance, 85.0% had a medium performance, 7.6% had a high performance, and only 7.4% had a low performance. These findings revealed a significant correlation (P<0.05), especially in the dedication dimension, between engagement and academic performance in higher education in Moquegua and Ilo.
